In the absence of spoken dialogue, the Masterskaya Theatre's production of Lines and Turns makes use of a plethora of alternative means of expression: masks, puppets, movement and bringing mundane objects to life. Lines and Turns is made up of very simple stories that form the basis of fairy tales all over the world. Good and Evil, Birth and Death, Freedom and Bondage, Tolerance and Intolerance are all personified. These brief episodes are combined by the director into a single parable about the essence of being, about how certain values are universal and how it's impossible to answer unequivocally to many of the questions that life asks us. By adhering to the logic and aesthetic of a dream, our show enables the audience to look at reality from a more abstract perspective and form their own opinion about the issues that affect us all today.
